Finland captain Litmanen to miss remaining euro qualifiers
Finland captain Jari Litmanen will be missing the the rest of Finland's Euro 2008 qualifying campaign because of an upcoming operation on his left Achilles tendon. The 36-year old striker, former Ajax Amsterdam, Barcelona and Liverpool player will be out of action for upto six months before he could train or play. Litmanen has struggled with injuries since joining Malmo in 2005. He had not made a single appearance for the club this year. Having been at the fulcrum of the Finland International side for nearly two decades, his injury is a blow for his team preparing for their crucial six euro qualifiers. Finland with 14 points are joint second in Euro qualifying Group A with Serbia and Portugal behind Poland.
