Poland declares squad for Euro 2008 qualifiers against Portugal, Finland

Poland coach Leo Beenhakker is sticking with the players that upset Portugal last year for his team's rematch with the World Cup semifinalists in European Championship qualifying. Midfielder Euzebiusz Smolarek, who scored two goals in Poland's 2-1 win over Portugal in October will lead Poland's attack in Lisbon on September 8 and four days later at Finland. Midfielder Arkadiusz and goalkeeper Wojciech Kowalewski are the two players missing from the Poland squad. Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc, who has taken over since Kowalewski's injuries and sparse playing time at Spartak Moscow, looks likely to start in goal. Poland leads Group A, two points ahead of Finland and four points clear of Portugal. Serbia is fourth, five points back.
