Beckham not to join England squad soon

David Beckham ruled out his chances of playing for England in the friendly match against Germany on 22nd Aug. The 32 year old midfielder is also likely not to play in the next two Euro 2008 qualifiers against Israel and Russia on 8th and 12th September.

The declaration came after the LA Galaxy game against Toronto FC on Sunday, which the former English captain watched from sidelines. The former Real Madrid star is improving from his left knee injury and started training after an interval. Presently, he cannot plant or turn without pain.

“All that's on my mind at the moment is getting myself fit.” said Beckham.

“If I'm fit, obviously I have to play a few games before I even think about going home to England to play for the country.” Beckham concluded that “But my main priority at the moment is getting myself fit and getting myself playing for the Galaxy.”

Beckham still needs 7 to 10 days of time to fully recover from injury. He is now expected to play against DC United next Thursday, although the player is not quite sure about the possibility.
