The European Football Championship is the main football competition of the men's national football teams governed by UEFA, the administrative and controlling body for European football. UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) being one of the biggest of six continental confederations of FIFA was founded on June 15, 1954 in Basel, Switzerland. The championship, originally called the European Nations Cup, is held every four years since 1960. In 1968, the name of the championship was changed to European Football Championship and is considered as the second-most important competition after the FIFA World Cup.
Euro 2008 championships are co-hosted by Austria and Switzerland and will be held at Austria and Switzerland, from 7 June to 29 June 2008. A total of 16 teams will participate in the tournament.
