Sweden awarded 3- 0 win in the abandoned qualifier with Denmark
Sweden was awarded a 3-0 win in its abandoned Euro 2008 qualifier with Denmark, by European football body UEFA on Friday. UEFA's control and disciplinary body also fined the Danish Football Association (DBU) 100,000 Swiss Francs (US$81,630) and ordered Denmark to play its next four home qualifiers at least 250km from Copenhagen. Denmark midfielder Christian Poulsen was banned for three competitive internationals. German referee Herbert Fandel abandoned the qualifier in Copenhagen Parken Stadium in the 90th minute with the scores level at 3-3. Herbert had awarded a penalty to Sweden and given a red card to Poulsen when a drunken fan ran onto the pitch and assaulted him. Sweden now leads Group F with 18 points from seven matches, with Spain three points behind. Denmark trails in fourth place on 10 points from six matches.
