David Beckham played his first competitive game for England Wednesday night since last year's World Cup and led England over Estonia 3-0 in Euro 2008 qualifiers. At Tallinn, Joe Cole gave England a 37th-minute lead with a spin and volley from the edge of the area before Beckham set up second-half goals for Peter Crouch and Michael Owen with crosses from the right. Beckham had been dropped from the roster after the World Cup by new coach Steve McClaren, then was recalled for last week's exhibition game against Brazil. Beckham, returning after 10 months away, set up two goals at Estonia.
England (4-1-2), which is home for four of its last five qualifiers, is fourth in Group E with 14 points, three behind Croatia (5-0-2) and Israel (5-1-2) and one behind Russia (4-0-3). The top two nations will advance to next year's tournament.
